virus removal tips

A computer that has virus may be too slow than usual, it may shut down and reboot unexpectedly, and there might be some abnormal sounds coming from the hard disk.

Another sign include some computer applications opening by themselves. You may also start receiving unusual numbers of unsolicited emails. We have seen cases where attacks by viruses keep the lights on broadband modems lit up all the time.

Step.1- Get a good antivirus

You must have a good and regularly updated antivirus. PC users can download and run the Microsoft Security Essentials, which is good enough security software. This security software is free for all computers running on Windows. Good security software like Norton or BitDefender should be able to identify and remove a virus. However, some viruses are too stubborn and you would have to remove them manually. Go to ‘’step two’’ to learn how to carry out manual virus removal.

Step.2- Manual Virus Removal

Run your computer antivirus. If it identifies a threat but can’t remove it; copy the name of the threat. Go to Norton.com. Paste the name of the virus and click the search button. Now, expect security information of the virus. Scan the search result for information about the threat. Read about the virus and follow the instructions to remove the threat from your computer. (Look for information that points at the virus location on your computer.)

Did you receive an email just before the problem? Copy the subject line or look for the name of the attached file that is in the email and search for information on that name on Norton.com or any other reputable security company like BitDefender.

Step.3- Disable Suspected Processes and Edit Registry

Hold on the CTRL, ALT, and Delete keys at the same time. Click on Start Task Manager> processes> select the process> click on End process.

Now, this is where it gets slightly difficult: You may need to edit your registry. This is for advanced computer users, therefore we recommend you restore your system to the last known good configuration instead.

Step.4- Shut down the computer and reboot

Precautions: Be wary of files that end with the extensions ‘’.exe’’ , and ‘’.com’’. Don’t click on links in emails from unsolicited senders. Do not download freewares, videos, music files, or any other materials from websites you can’t vouch for.
